The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar saw a significant surge in Brazilian meat sales, particularly chicken and beef, to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. A survey by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce revealed that chicken exports to GCC nations, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, and Oman, surged by 37.14% to $2.059 billion from January to October 2022. Beef exports also rose by 30.87% to $459.53 million. Qatar experienced the highest growth in poultry exports, with a 66.71% increase, and Kuwait saw the highest growth in beef imports, with a 91.27% increase. The surge in Brazilian meat sales is attributed to the World Cup, the Club World Cup in the UAE, Formula 1 races, and the resumption of pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia, which attracted millions of tourists and boosted hotel and food sales. Overall, Brazil's exports to the 22 countries of the Arab League increased by 25.71% to $14.47 billion.
