In May, Colombia's dairy exports experienced a significant surge, reaching 2,995 tons, a 130% increase compared to the same period in 2020, with a FOB value of USD 11,228,000. This growth is part of a larger trend, with exports now 210% higher than in January-May 2019 and 21% more than the same period in 2018. The industry has diversified its markets, with Venezuela emerging as the leading destination despite previous challenges, followed by Russia and the United States. Other destinations include Ecuador, Chile, Aruba, Curaçao, and Peru. The exports were dominated by whole milk powder, cheeses, butter, fresh cheese, yogurt, and skim milk powder. This marks a significant recovery for the industry, showing promising results since the strategy to diversify markets was implemented.
