The Colombian dairy industry has seen a significant increase in exports, with the first quarter of 2021 marking the highest records since 2010. Between January and April 2021, dairy exports reached 2,481 tons, generating an FOB value of USD 9,040,000, a 179% increase compared to the same period in 2020. This growth is attributed to high exchange rates and the need for companies to diversify markets, with the industry's recovery following the recertification as a country free of foot and mouth disease. The exports were led by whole milk powder, butter, and cheese, with Russia, Venezuela, and the United States being the primary recipients. This surge indicates a positive trend in Colombia's dairy export sector, building on the growth seen in the first quarter.
