U.S. dairy product exports experienced a 3% increase in April, marking the second month of growth in 2024, primarily driven by cheese, whey, and butterfat categories. Cheese exports saw a 27% rise, with Mexico leading in imports, and there was a notable first year-over-year increase in high-protein whey and butterfat. The National Milk Producers Federation reported that the Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) program facilitated sales of American-type cheese, whole milk powder, and cream cheese to customers in various regions. Despite a decrease in dairy heifer replacement exports, there was a significant surge in dairy embryo exports. However, hay exports, including alfalfa hay, saw a slight decline in April. April's agricultural trade balance marked the largest deficit on record.
