Denmark's cattle herd has reached a historical minimum of 1.5 million animals, a decrease of 0.9% from the previous year, with the most significant decrease being in bulls and oxen, according to the Danish agricultural and food industry umbrella association (L&F). The number of cows also fell by 0.9%, with a notable decrease in suckler cows. There was a slight increase of 0.7% in heifers, but a decrease in the number of pregnant heifers. Beef slaughter rose by 3.2% compared to the previous year.
