Apex-Brasil, in partnership with sector entities and Euromonitor International, has conducted a study revealing a significant market opportunity for Brazilian ingredients in Germany. The German market for food and beverage industry ingredients reached 4.9 million tons in 2020 and is expected to grow moderately until 2024, particularly in products related to health issues like special flours, sweeteners, and organic products. The study highlights the potential for Brazilian exports in protein concentrate, fruit and vegetable flour, and fruit and vegetable pulp sectors, especially those with European organic certification. Despite Germany's local production of key ingredients like wheat flour and sugar, there is growing opportunity in specific Brazilian niches. Since 2019, Brazil has exported agricultural products to 150 markets, contributing significantly to the international market amid the Covid-19 pandemic, with agribusiness exports reaching a record US$ 61.49 billion from January to June 2021.
