The Agricultural Quarantine Agency (Barantan) of Indonesia's Ministry of Agriculture has released 1,619 tons of horticultural products that were detained from August 27 to September 30, 2022, due to the lack of a required import recommendation document. The detained products, originating from six countries, included dried chilies, longan, oranges, grapes, apples, and were held in three Indonesian ports to enforce the policy of requiring a Horticultural Product Import Recommendation (RIPH) document. This incident, which caused losses to entrepreneurs, was monitored by the Ombudsman, who issued recommendations for better enforcement of commodity balance regulations and RIPH, and for harmonization of horticultural import permit regulations between the responsible ministries.
