Disappointing performance of Ivory Coast in the export of cocoa and coffee

Foreign trade statistics for Côte d'Ivoire were published on Friday with varying fortunes depending on the product. From October to the end of March, i.e. since the start of the current 2021/22 campaign, exports of raw cocoa beans fell by 12.5% compared to a year earlier, totaling 970,076 tonnes (t). It should be noted that the provisional port statistics have been heavily revised upwards for cocoa for the month of February: shipments are now estimated at 83,662 t against the 50,244 t previously announced. Semi-processed cocoa products (butter, powder, chocolate) slipped by 0.2% between October and the end of March to 242,496 t. Cotton sales fell by 7.3% from the beginning of January to the end of March, totaling 94,186 t. Remember that this includes exports from landlocked producing countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso.
