If we were to personify McDonald’s, we could say that at night it sleeps soundly, at least in Argentina and Brazil. It does so because one of the most important aspects of its sustainability policy is covered: Practically 100% of the meat for its hamburgers comes from areas free of deforestation. In reality, more than just a moral issue, it would also sleep soundly because it knows that it got ahead of a discussion that is already gaining prominence in other regions. This is expressed by the recent regulation of the European Union, which requires traceability from its importers, but also the relevance that sustainability is beginning to have as a business strategy in macro terms. The particular case of the most famous hamburgers was addressed in one of the panels of the event organized by the Argentine Sustainable Meat Table (MACS) at the Rural Exhibition in Palermo.
