Germany's consumption of poultry, pork, and beef and its import-export balances for the first half of 2024 have been outlined. The country's poultry consumption is surpassing local production, leading to an import surplus of 128,550 tons. Pork imports have resulted in an export surplus of 287.1 thousand tons, despite a ban from China and withdrawals by pig farmers. Beef imports and exports are relatively balanced, showing a modest import surplus of 26 thousand tons. Compared to the first half of 2023, there have been notable changes in the meat balance, with poultry meat consumption on the rise, leading to an increase in import surplus, while pork and beef consumption is decreasing.
