In the Doukkala-Abda region, the 2024-2025 sugar beet sowing campaign faced challenges due to limited rainfall but managed to begin on September 25, with a goal to cultivate 10,000 hectares. Despite the difficulties, 7,516 hectares have been contracted by 1,936 farmers, with 6,813 hectares already sown, marking an 82% progress rate. This success is attributed to a variety of factors, including technical supervision, incentive measures such as price revaluation, innovative irrigation systems, and new initiatives like desalination and water transfers to combat water scarcity. Despite the challenges, stakeholders remain optimistic for the sector's sustainable and competitive development, with a focus on strengthening resilience and achieving higher yields.
