Over the past week, the price of dried coconut in Vĩnh Long and Cần Thơ City has soared dramatically, with traders purchasing at 230,000-240,000 VND per dozen (12 pieces), up from 100,000-130,000 VND per dozen at the beginning of the year.
According to Ms. Lương Thị Ánh (residing in Châu Hoà Commune, Vĩnh Long Province), at the beginning of the year, the price of dried coconut at 100,000 VND per dozen was already profitable for gardeners. From April onwards, the price of dried coconut has continuously increased to 175,000 VND per dozen and is now at 240,000 VND per dozen, making coconut growers very excited.
"If this price level is maintained until the end of the year, I could make a profit of over 100 million VND from my 5 coconut plantations," Ms. Ánh shared.
According to some traders, the recent surge in the price of dried coconut is due to a sharp increase in demand from export markets. At the same time, the domestic market also needs a large amount of dried coconut to serve the production and processing of cakes and candies for the Tết Nguyên Đán holiday in 2026.
