The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in South Korea will implement an inspection order for imported dried wood ear mushrooms from China starting December 23rd. This measure is aimed at holding importers accountable for safety management due to repeated issues with pesticide residues. Businesses will now be required to request pesticide residue testing and submit the results before being allowed to import. The ministry has previously applied this system to 16 other items, with success in reducing non-compliance rates in inspections from a high of 45% to 0%.
