Researchers at the University of Agriculture of Faisalabad in Pakistan have found that dry potato powder can be effectively used as a cheaper energy source in animal feed. The powder can be added up to 30% to ruminant concentrates without any negative effects. The study was funded by the Pakistan Science Foundation and aims to address the feed supply-demand gap in Pakistan by exploring non-conventional feed resources. The researchers highlight that dried potato concentrate is a cost-effective energy source compared to grains and can be used as a grain substitute in ruminant diets.
