Dry weather favors rice planting in Rio Grande do Sul

Rice sowing has progressed gradually in the state, following regional climatic variations, according to the Conjunctural Report released this Thursday (16) by Emater/RS-Ascar. The dry period of the last few weeks has favored soil preparation and planting in the main producing regions, especially in areas that have been previously leveled. In some locations near watercourses, excess moisture still limits access for machinery and causes delays in the start of sowing. The implementation of the crops is between the beginning and the middle of the period recommended by the Agricultural Zoning of Climate Risk (ZARC). The sown area varies between 15% and 60%, depending on the region. "Most of the crops present uniform emergence, good initial vigor, and vegetative development within the norm," highlights the report.
