Turkey's sunflowerseed production is expected to drop to a nearly decade-low due to extreme dry weather in the northwestern part of the country, where most of the production takes place. The US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service has revised its production outlook down by 300,000 tonnes, totaling 1.25 million tonnes for the 2024-25 marketing year. This reduces the country's production to its lowest since the 2015-16 marketing year. Additionally, the FAS has increased its sunflowerseed import forecast by 100,000 tonnes, estimating a total of 550,000 tonnes for the 2023-24 marketing year.
