(Goesan=Yonhap News) Reporter Yoon Woo-yong = On the 27th, Goesan County, North Chungcheong, announced that as of October 23, 223 hectares of cabbage and beans have been preliminarily assessed to have been damaged by frequent rains in the past two months.
The affected areas by crop are 165 hectares of autumn cabbage and 58 hectares of beans.
The county explained that the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs recognized the damage from the autumn rainy season as an agricultural disaster on the 23rd.
If recognized as an agricultural disaster, the damaged crops are included in the crop damage insurance, and if damage is confirmed to be over a certain area (50 hectares), national funds will be provided.
Accordingly, the county plans to conduct crop damage acceptance and detailed surveys by the 3rd of next month.
A county official said, "In the situation where weather anomalies are becoming permanent, we will make efforts to minimize the damage to farmers."
