A survey in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam on December 30 reported that the price of Monthong durian has surpassed VND200,000/kg, reaching VND202,000 - 205,000/kg due to increased export demand for the Chinese Lunar New Year. The high price is also attributed to the lack of off-season durian in other provinces. Meanwhile, the prices for Ri6 and Thai durian remain stable. From 2018 to the present, durian imports into China have grown from 430,000 tons (worth 1.1 billion USD) to 1.38 million tons (worth 6.2 billion USD) in the first nine months of this year. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (VinaFruit) predicts that Vietnam's durian export value will reach 4 billion USD next year, 90% of which will be for the Chinese market.
