The Ministry of Agriculture in Malaysia has clarified that the country does not have a national fruit, contradicting common online and website claims that papaya holds this title. The ministry's Director General, Datuk Mohd Nasir Warris, has proposed that durian, commonly known as the 'king of fruits,' should be recognized as the national fruit due to its popularity and cultural significance. Durian was the most cultivated fruit in Malaysia last year, with a production of 390,635 tons.
