In February 2025, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports reached a value of 350 million USD, contributing to a total of 724 million USD in the first two months of the year. The largest market for these exports was China, with 46.5% share, although there has been a 43% decrease in export value compared to the same period last year due to new regulations on chemical residues. The US and Thailand were the next largest markets. A significant increase in export value was observed in the UK, while the durian market experienced a sharp decline due to these new regulations, leading to a temporary export suspension. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment urged exporters to avoid using banned chemicals and to ensure food safety control programs. Overall, fruit and vegetable export turnover is expected to increase by 27% in 2024, with durian making up nearly half of this total.
