In 2021, France experienced its worst trade deficit ever, reaching 84.7 billion euros, as per customs authorities. Despite this, there was a 14% growth in agricultural exports from the Netherlands. The value of greenhouse and field vegetables, potatoes, and onions exports to France increased by 1.8% to 7.2 billion euros, with Germany, the UK, and Belgium being the main recipients. The Netherlands also saw a 5% surplus in fruit sales to France. Ornamental horticultural products exports from the Netherlands to France increased by 23%, accounting for 28% of the total exports and 87% of which was Dutch in origin.
