Dutch soybean imports from Brazil will increase by 40%

In the first six months of 2020, the Netherlands imported 1.6 billion kilograms of soybeans from Brazil. That is 40% more than in the first half of 2019. At the same time, imports from the United States decreased by 19% compared to 2019. Statistics Netherlands reports. Total imports in the first half of this year amounted to 2.4 billion kilos of soybeans. That corresponds to an import value of 811 million euros. The total import quantity is 14% higher than in the first half of 2019 and the total import value 17% higher. Approximately 25% of all soybeans imported by the Netherlands immediately go abroad as re-export. The majority is processed in Dutch factories into soybean meal, mainly as animal feed product, or into soybean oil for human consumption in particular.
