The European Commission announced a new trade agreement with Ukraine that will replace the previous duty-free regime introduced after the start of the Russian invasion. The new agreement includes quotas for goods from sensitive sectors and others that will have free import.
It also fully takes into account the sensitivity of certain agricultural sectors, raised by EU member states and agricultural producers.
This will contribute to the gradual integration of Ukraine into the EU single market and shows that the EU's commitment to supporting Ukraine is stronger than ever.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stated: "With this modernized agreement, we are ensuring trade flows from Ukraine to Europe and global markets. We are also building bridges of resilience and economic solidarity in the face of Russia's unjustified aggression. At the same time, we continue to protect the interests of our farmers.
