A virtual meeting between Agrocalidad and SENASA of Peru and Ecuador, respectively, was held to discuss the implementation of the Action Plan from the 2019 Presidential Meeting and Binational Cabinet. The discussion aimed at enhancing trade between the two countries by establishing agreements on the phytosanitary and zoosanitary authorization of agricultural products, enabling Peru to import live cattle from Ecuador. The agencies also developed work plans for the phytosanitary requirements of Peruvian national pitahaya and are set to publish these requirements this month. Additionally, they are reviewing comments on the proposal for Ecuadorian pineapple exports. The meetings are part of efforts to facilitate fluid trade, access to products of mutual interest, and support economic reactivation and agricultural development in both nations.
