The fishing season for red algae in El Jadida province has ended, with over 22,500 tons of seaweed harvested across almost 800 boats and a workforce of around 3,200 divers and 1,800 collectors. The season saw an abundance of high-quality resources, leading to a profitable economic yield. The maritime fisheries have successfully implemented a traceability system and no social incidents were reported. The individual and group quotas were properly managed, contributing to the decline in informal fishing. However, issues such as the lack of solutions for the expired export quota and the unlawful operation of more than one fishing boat by some seaweed fishermen have been raised.
