In the first half of 2024, the European Union saw a 17% increase in beef exports, totaling 41,600 tons, with Turkey being the primary market. There was also growth in exports to Algeria, Switzerland, and the Philippines. However, there was a 16% decrease in the export of live animals due to a shortage and difficulties in reaching certain markets. The EU beef market was less appealing for imports in the first half of 2024, with a 2.2% decline, especially from Brazil. The main EU partners are seeking more profitable markets elsewhere due to a tight global beef market. By the end of 2024, EU beef exports are projected to grow by 10%, while meat imports are expected to decrease by 2%.
