The European Commission is set to support the wine-growing sector by considering the use of unused CAP funds for clearing measures, increasing funding rates for sustainable viticulture, and examining the approval of potassium phosphonate in organic viticulture. These measures are a result of discussions between the EU member states, the European wine associations, and the EU Commission. The High-Level Wine Group, set up by the European Commission, has proposed additional measures such as extending the validity of replanting permits, banning new plantings, facilitating the marketing of low-alcohol and non-alcoholic products, and improving wine tourism and sales promotion in third countries. A roadmap for implementing these recommendations is expected to be released in early 2025.
