The European Union's crop monitoring committee is predicting an average wheat yield of 5.77 tons per hectare for the upcoming season, marking a 4% increase from the previous year and a 3% higher than the five-year average. The forecast varies across member states, with the Netherlands expecting a slight decrease from last year's production but still maintaining high yields. France's yields are expected to be similar to last year and the five-year average. Spain's production is anticipated to be 25% higher than last year, recovering from extreme drought, while Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria are all expecting significant increases in wheat yield compared to recent years. Ireland is the only member state expected to harvest more than 10 tons per hectare, although this is a slight decrease from last year.
