The European Union (EU) is revising its maximum residue limit (MRL) levels for active ingredients in agricultural products, with variations across product types and certain products having higher limits. The revised regulation, including lower arsenic MRL levels in certain foods, will take effect from September 26, 2023. The European Commission has also eased control requirements for certain Vietnamese products like herbs exported to the EU. From March 26, 2023, okra from Vietnam must have a pesticide control certificate, while four herbs are removed from EU control. The EU also monitors food and feed safety violations in exporting countries and adjusts control measures accordingly. Additionally, the EU regulates maximum pesticide residue levels in products of animal origin and conducts random inspections of specific food items for pesticide residues.
