The Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil (Mapa) announced an increase in the purchase quotas of beef and pork for processing from the Eurasian Economic Union (UEA), which includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The quotas, outlined in Decision 116/2021, allow for 200,000 tonnes of beef and 100,000 tonnes of pork to be imported by Russia in 2022. Following a recent mission by Brazilian Minister Tereza Cristina to Moscow, 16 Brazilian slaughterhouses have been approved for export to Russia, with seven for beef and eight for pork. The UEA has set total quotas for beef and pork at 38.5 thousand tons and 12,000 tons, respectively, for its member countries other than Russia.
