Within the framework of compliance with the European Union Regulation on Deforestation (EUDR), the Ministry of Agrarian and Irrigation Development reported that Peru has been classified as a "standard risk" country, like other nations in the region such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Guatemala. The risk classification defines the level of control that European competent authorities will carry out on Peruvian coffee and cocoa importers. In this way, the control, that is, the verification of the due diligence file, will be conducted on 3% of importers, a percentage significantly lower than if Peru had been classified as a "high risk" country (9%).
