(Changwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sun-kyung = On the 23rd, Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced that it will support the enrollment of "Agricultural Income Stabilization Insurance" for the persimmon item for the first time this year.
The Agricultural Income Stabilization Insurance compensates for damages due to natural disasters, fires, and diseases, which are covered by the existing agricultural crop disaster insurance, as well as economic losses of farmers due to market price declines.
Farmers can choose to enroll in one of the three types: "Past Income Type," "Expected Income Type," or "Actual Income Type."
Farmers only need to pay 10% of the insurance premium, with the remaining 90% supported by national and local funds.
If one wishes to enroll in the insurance, they must apply through the regional agricultural cooperative or item-specific agricultural cooperative by December 12.
Gang Jong-sun, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Agricultural disasters are frequent due to climate change and abnormal temperatures, making them unpredictable," and added, "The Agricultural Income Stabilization Insurance is expected to help stabilize the management of farms by preparing for actual income fluctuations due to price declines based on market conditions."
