Experts: Prices for eggs and chicken will rise in Russia

Trading networks have notified the Ministry of Industry and Trade that producers of eggs and poultry have requested an increase in selling prices up to 10%, a source in the market told Izvestia. Chairman of the Presidium of the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT) Sergey Belyakov confirmed this information to the publication. According to him, the volume of products on the market is decreasing due to the seasonal factor and the massive spread of avian influenza. Producers cite an increase in the cost of feed, as well as a significant reduction in livestock. All this increases internal costs, and also forces them to declare an increase in the purchase price. The economic justification for the price increase is exhaustive, Belyakov told Izvestia. He specified that so far, the networks, given the reduction in effective demand, have not accepted such a high increase - 10%.
