From January to April 2021, Russia saw a 2.6-fold increase in cattle exports, totaling 8.6 thousand heads, with Kazakhstan accounting for 54% of these exports. There has been a consistent annual increase in cattle exports, which has risen 3.5 times over the past four years. Additionally, there was a significant increase in pig exports, with a 1.5-fold increase from the previous year, totaling 7.9 thousand heads, all of which were imported by Georgia. The Rosselkhoznadzor is actively working to diversify livestock export markets, having secured access to Iranian breeding cattle and Iraqi calves for slaughter, and is in the process of agreeing on veterinary certificates for cattle exports to Benin and small ruminant exports to Israel.
