Despite the slowdown in Korea's exports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the country has seen a 5% rise in 'K-food' exports compared to the previous year, totaling $48.56 billion from January to August. This increase is attributed to a surge in interest in healthy and fermented foods, with significant growth in kimchi, ramyun, sauces, and processed rice exports. The US, Australia, and Japan have been key markets, with ramyun exports contributing 8.4% of the total agri-food exports. Chicken products have also performed well, particularly in Hong Kong, the US, and Vietnam. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food plans to strengthen export support for fresh fruits and vegetables.
