The sector has seen a decade of growth, increasing production from 638 thousand tons in 2013 to 887 thousand tons in 2023. Tilapia is the primary exported species, making up 95% of the total, followed by tambaqui and cobia. The United States is the primary market, accounting for 89% of total exports, and Paraná state leads in tilapia exports, contributing 81% of the total.
