South Africa's poultry industry has been granted provisional anti-dumping duties on chicken imports from Brazil and four EU countries (Denmark, Ireland, Poland, and Spain) until mid-2022, in an effort to curb dumping and level the playing field for local producers. The duties range from 3% to 265.1% and were necessitated by a surge in dumped imports, which have threatened local job markets and the poultry industry's growth. This decision is part of the poultry master plan, a collaborative initiative aimed at reducing imports and fostering industry growth through fair trade practices.
