Bosnia and Herzegovina has registered the first cases of African swine fever (ASF) in the European Union Animal Disease Information System (ADIS), reported the local website kurir.rs. The case is near the Croatian border. The Croatian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries reported that the case was registered just 6 kilometers from the border of Bosnia with Croatia - in the municipalities of Prijedor and Srbac, where the disease was detected in wild pigs. "The presence of African swine fever in wild pigs so close to the Croatian border poses a very high risk for Croatian pigs raised on farms, as well as for the wild pig population in parts of the Republic of Croatia where there have been no confirmed cases of the disease to date," the agricultural authority wrote.
