The Sinop Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has conducted inspections that have led to the seizure of approximately 5 tons of undersize horse mackerel and the imposition of 5 administrative fines. The inspections aim to safeguard aquatic resources and promote sustainable fishing practices by enforcing the Fisheries Law and relevant regulations. In 2023, the inspections resulted in the seizure of 20 thousand kg of anchovy and 7 kg of horse mackerel that were under the legal size limit. The following year, 4 thousand 950 kg of horse mackerel and 10 kg of turbot were confiscated, and five fines were issued. The directorate is encouraging cooperation from fishermen and the public to protect aquatic resources.
