The Industrial Production Index (IPI) for food companies fell by 0.8% in August on an annual basis, although it increased by 1.0% in the accumulated total for the first eight months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, according to data released this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The IPI for tobacco manufacturing factories decreased by 3.0% in its annual variation and fell by 0.2% in its accumulated rate between January and August of this year.
According to INE data, the general index for the entire range of economic activities grew by 0.4% in August on an annual basis and rose by 0.6% in its accumulated rate for the first eight months of the year.
The general IPI, corrected for seasonal and calendar effects, increased by 3.4% in August on an annual basis.
