Former Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok recently visited the Deok-am Eochon-gye seaweed farming site in Yaksan-myeon, Wando County, to inspect the damage situation and offer comfort to the fishermen who are facing difficulties. At the site, it was confirmed that production has been disrupted due to "leaf fall" damage, where seaweed stems and leaves fall off in the early stages of seaweed farming, increasing the burden on fishermen's businesses. It has been tallied that since mid-November, 2,931 fishing households, with 173,029 lines, have been affected by seaweed leaf fall and death in 12 towns and townships of Wando County, accounting for approximately 59% of the total seaweed facility volume in Wando County.
