The National Poultry Commission of Ecuador has recommended the use of avian flu vaccines, with one batch of 4 million doses already imported and more on the way. The vaccine will be used to protect a part of the poultry population, particularly in farms with biosafety measures, and is expected to reduce the death rate from 80% to 40% or less. The government is working with the poultry sector to protect the supply of poultry products and ensure biosecurity measures are in place.
