A partnership between the regional agricultural chamber, the Institute of Farm Animal Breeding, and other organizations is conducting a unique agrophotovoltaic project to explore the potential for large ruminants, such as cows and horses, to graze under solar panels. The project, spread across a 7-hectare plot with 9 rows of solar panels covering 4,300 m², aims to evaluate various aspects, including the optimal height and stability of the panels, the animals' reaction to photovoltaics, and the impact on hay production. The experiment, set to conclude in 2026, could serve as a model for larger-scale agrivoltaic projects, with support from eight local farmers willing to cover 200 hectares of pasture with panels for grazing.
