The Peruvian cocoa and chocolate industry has seen significant growth, thanks to the support of French Cooperation, as reported by Santiago Paz, the export manager of the Norandino Cooperative. This support has aided small producers and cooperatives in enhancing the productivity and quality of cocoa, making Peruvian producers more competitive internationally. French Cooperation's efforts have also been pivotal in establishing and reinforcing the Peruvian Association of Cocoa Producers (APP Cacao), and in bolstering the production capacity of cooperatives like Norandino, helping them obtain international certifications. This has further solidified Peru's status as a premium cocoa producer. Additionally, the creation of the Peruvian Chocolate Salon has fortified Peru's relations with the Paris Chocolate Salon, fostering commercial and technological exchanges with the French chocolate industry. The results include a notable improvement in the quality of Peruvian cocoa and the capability of Peruvian chocolate companies to produce high-end chocolates, competing with European standards. This growth not only strengthens the cocoa value chain but also enhances the quality of life of producers, positioning Peru as a leading nation in the production of high-quality cocoa and chocolate.
