(Jeju=Yonhap News) Reporter Go Seong-sik = Following the recent Korea-Singapore summit where it was agreed to export Jeju Hanwoo and pork to Singapore, various promotional events for Jeju exports are being held in Singapore.
Jeju announced on the 5th that it will host the "2025 Invitation to JEJU, KOREA" in Singapore until the 6th.
Organized by the Jeju government and sponsored by the Jeju Economic and Trade Promotion Agency and the Jeju Office in Singapore, the event opened on the afternoon of the 4th at the Parkroyal Beach Road Hotel.
At the opening ceremony, honorary Jeju resident cards were presented to the Korean ambassador and consul to Singapore. The event also included an opening speech, a Jeju Day opening performance, a banquet, and exchange programs.
Jeju Administrative Vice Governor Jin Myeong-gi said in his opening speech, "Just as the agreement to export Jeju Hanwoo and pork to Singapore has been reached, I hope that the exchange between the two countries will lead to mutual development in economy and culture."
Ambassador Kim Min of the Korean Embassy in Singapore said, "This year marks the 50th anniversary of Korea-Singapore diplomatic relations, and the successful export of Jeju Hanwoo and pork to Singapore is a symbolic achievement of bilateral cooperation. I hope that this Jeju Day will be an opportunity for the clean Jeju brand to be loved even more by Singaporean citizens."
Thirty-one organizations and Jeju companies are participating in the event, including the Jeju Development Corporation and the Jeju Provincial Education Office, along with six companies from Singapore and Malaysia and over 30 local buyers.
Additionally, until the 9th, a Jeju product pop-up store featuring 22 Jeju export companies, including processed citrus products and seafood, will be held at the Novena United Square Atrium in Singapore.
Jeju plans to strengthen the position of the Jeju brand in the ASEAN market through this event and expand overseas promotion and sales activities to major trading hub cities such as Vietnam and Malaysia in the future.
