Frost causes fruit drop in bergamot production

According to the Economic Bulletin, released this Thursday (4) by Emater/RS-Ascar, citrus growers in the administrative region of Caxias do Sul have already started preparations for the next harvest. Most of the plants are showing new shoots and signs of flower buds, indicating the beginning of the production cycle. The entity highlighted that in the coming days, it will be possible to better assess the potential of the harvest, especially after the high production of bergamot and orange this year. In Cotiporã, the harvest of late orange varieties, such as Monte Parnaso and Lane Late, continues. At the same time, producers are carrying out phytosanitary treatments to ensure the health of the flowering. Despite the good production performance, some farmers report obstacles in marketing.
