Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports are on the rise, with the first quarter of 2021 seeing a 6.1% increase from the same period in the previous year, totaling nearly € 780 million. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic's impact on supply chains, there is optimistic forecasted growth in the sector. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is actively promoting exports of fruits such as dragon fruit, rambutan, star apple, lychee, and mango to numerous countries. The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which took effect in August 2020, has facilitated the export of fruits like coconuts, green-skinned pomelos, and dragon fruit to Europe. Despite a decline in 2020 due to the pandemic, fruit and vegetable exports still reached a value of € 2.6 billion, indicating a significant market importance.
