Galicia leads the promotion of chestnut in Spain in terms of cultivated surface area and quality of associated products

Galicia leads the promotion of chestnuts in Spain, both in terms of cultivated surface area and the fight against diseases and pests and the quality of associated products, especially chestnuts, a resource with increasing market value. This was highlighted this morning by the Director General of Forest Planning and Management, José Luis Chan, in response to a question on this matter in the Seventh Commission of Parliament. In his speech, the Director General advocated "active and adaptive forest management" of all this wealth to deal with climate change, and reiterated that the Xunta is committed to the development of chestnuts as a strategic resource for Galicia.
