[Korean Farmers' News Reporter Lee Woo-jung] On the 18th, the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Agricultural Technology Institute held an on-site evaluation meeting for the stable production of superior seed ginger hydroponic white ginger cultivation method at the Siljeong Farm in Yongpyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun. This evaluation meeting was organized to verify the productivity of the superior seed ginger hydroponic cultivation technology, which was developed in-house, through practical application in greenhouses of local farms, and to compare it with soil cultivation. Currently, the proportion of ginger circulating in the domestic market, aside from being used for food and processing, is also significant for storage and use as seed ginger for the following year. However, in major production areas such as Chungnam and Jeonbuk, the quality of seed ginger continues to decline and prices remain unstable due to continuous open-field cultivation, concentrated heavy rainfall, and damage from soil diseases and pests, and imported seed ginger.
