Georgi Takhov: Urgent measures and financial aid for farmers due to the drought

Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahkov called for urgent measures and activation of the Agricultural Reserve to support agricultural producers affected by the extreme drought during the summer months. During the meeting of the EU Council on Agriculture and Fisheries in Luxembourg, he reported that Bulgaria has already provided the European Commission with a detailed analysis of the situation and expects urgent measures to be taken to support the severely affected farmers, informed the press office of the agricultural ministry. "The extreme drought has led to a significant drop in corn and sunflower yields, which threatens the economic stability of thousands of agricultural producers and the country's food security," emphasized the agriculture minister.
